Love

Read free book excerpt from Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle Melton, page 1 of 2. Glennon Doyle, Love Warrior. Love Warrior is a book about how to turn pain and suffering into love. This past October 27th, in Visalia, California, I watched Glennon Doyle deliver a sermon about becoming a love warrior. Her commentary about Jesus left me awestruck. Just to be clear, Glennon isn’t a minister and doesn’t possess religious.

Carry On, Warrior is a fierce, outrageous and laugh-out-loud book about emerging from addiction and living life at full-tilt.–Geneen Roth, author of Women, Food and God

Glennon Doyle Love Warrior Synopsis

“Funny, honest, and brave, Glennon Melton joins the ranks of Anne Lamott, Sara Miles, and Barbara Brown Taylor by giving her readers a precious gift: permission–permission to doubt, permission to believe, permission to struggle, permission to laugh, permission to tell the truth, and permission to do it all imperfectly. Carry On, Warrior takes its place among the best of spiritual memoirs. It reads like a conversation with a close friend, but impacts the heart like an encounter with the divine.–Rachel Held Evans, author of Evolving in Monkey Town and A Year of Biblical Womanhood

Every once in a while, a writer turns up who is just that special. This is definitely the case with Glennon Doyle Melton. She’s a hit because everything she writes runs deep and true–and makes us laugh. Glennon’s like your favorite girlfriend: game to talk about anything, unafraid to take chances, and refreshingly honest about her past and present struggles.” –Parents.com

She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at James Madison University in 1998. During her college years, Doyle was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority, Delta Rho chapter. Following graduation, she became a teacher in Northern Virginia.

Career[edit]

In 2009, Doyle began writing online with her blog Momastery.

In 2013, Doyle's memoir Carry On, Warrior was published based on some of her most popular blog posts

In 2016, a follow-up memoir, Love Warrior was released.

A third memoir, Untamed, was published in 2020. Singer, Adele, is a fan of the book, publicly stating on her Instagram that “This book will shake your brain and make your soul scream.”[7]

Recognition and awards[edit]

In 2014, Parents magazine named Doyle and Momastery the winner of its award for Best All-Around at Social Media.[10]

In September 2016, Doyle's book Love Warrior was selected to be a part of Oprah's Book Club 2.0.[11]

Philanthropy[edit]

Doyle founded Together Rising, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with an effective date of May 25, 2012.[15] As of December 2020, Together Rising has raised over $25 million for people in need.[16] Together Rising exists to 'transform collective heartbreak into effective action.' Most of Together Rising’s funds are raised through time-limited crowd-sourced fund-raisers in which contributors are limited to giving a maximum of $25 to meet a particular need.[17] This strategy is designed to build community, to enable people from all income groups to be able to donate ('democratize the giving'), and overcome indecision about how much to give.[18]

Personal life[edit]

Doyle was married to Craig Melton, a former model, from 2002 to 2016;[19] they have three children. Doyle and her family moved from Centreville, Virginia, to Naples, Florida.[20]

Doyle met Abby Wambach on a book tour.[21][22] In November 2016, Doyle announced that she was in a relationship with Wambach;[23] they married on May 14, 2017.[24]
